Flickr photostream and albums
We have been exploring alternate ways of displaying our collections of scanned images, which number over 3200 at present.
The old legacy website had albums created manually within the website pages, and when we moved to the new website, we felt that there must be a better way of doing this
Initially we set up Google Albums but the major drawback to this is that the Google software presents results in a fairly arbitrary manner, and the search features are lacking, in that you can't search on keywords or text describing images within the collection.
We have now converted the majority of our images to use another offering, Flickr, which gives better search facilities but has some drawbacks such as displaying adverts and suggested image content if you do not have an account.
For the moment we are going to leave the two offerings available, but not update the Google albums.
