This Poll Book gives the votes cast in the Elections for the parliamentary seat of the Isle of Wight.

This transcription gives the lists of the Absent Voters registered in the Electoral Rolls of 1939. This in effect shows all the people eligible to vote who were not in residence on the qualifying date, and this represents (apart from a couple of exceptions) all those members of the uniformed services on active duty away from home. Many of those listed died during WW II, so this is a good source of information about servicemen and women at the time.

These index records are taken from the patients' medical records of the Royal National Hospital for Diseases of the Chest, Ventnor, and for the most part give details of patients who were sent to Ventnor from other parts of Great Britain. [Work in progress from 2017 - not yet completed]
