The Isle of Wight Family History Society has created this index from the finding aids to marriage registers held by the Isle of Wight County Record Office. These indexes cover the period from 1837 - 1900 - hence "Victorian Marriage Indexes". The transcriptions were made by the late Barry Hall, of Sandown, and recorded on spreadsheets which were then converted to searchable PDFs grouped by Groom or Bride. You can find these at the County Record Office website:-
As part of our conversion process, a number of anomalies and typos were noted and amended. The benefit of these indexes is that additional information has been made available, principally the full date of the event, the names of the fathers of the groom and bride, and the marital status and age of each party.
Jan 2024 : Entries for two further churches have been collated by Antony Barton, and these can be found in this PDF document:

Carisbrooke (St John's Church) is now more commonly referred to as Newport (St John's Church). The entries have also been added to the searchable database.
