Records of the Guardians of the Poor
The Isle of Wight Union records Out Relief under the Poor Law Acts are held by the Isle of Wight Record Office (IWRO) and have been based on registers compiled, for the most part by clerks of the Guardians of the Poor, see iwight.com/council/OtherServices/Record-Office/Using-the-Record-Office.The registers have been transcribed by IWFHS Volunteers, and we can present them as a searchable database.
As with all such records there may be errors in transcription so it is best to check with the original registers if possible.
