My Ancestors came to the Isle: Stories and chat about incomers to the isle.

Who, when and why and what happened to them. Do you have an ancestor who settled on the isle and want to tell us about it? Perhaps you have a question or theory that you would like to put to other members.  

Members are invited to join us for a free Zoom chat session on Wednesday

11th August 2021 10.00 BST (19.00 AEST; 17.00 AWST; 21.00 NZST)

This 90 minute session will be moderated, but informal, with members invited to present their own theme-related questions, snippets of advice and stories and experiences. Taking part is optional - please feel free to attend just to listen in.

Book your Free Ticket: As this is an event for Subscribing Members only you must first be logged into the web site to place your booking. As this is a new style of event attendance is currently limited.

Zoom Invites will be sent by e-mail the weekend before the presentation.

Contribute: Once you have booked, please submit any stories, questions or other submissions (including still images) related to the theme of the session. As a rough guide we will try to allocate about 10 minutes to each submission, but this will largely depend on the number of submissions and the conversation generated from each. You will be asked to present your contribution, so it’s time to brush up on your presentation skills!

Publicity: A written summary can be produced and published within the Member’s Area of our web site, unlike formal presentations, for which the recording is published. Any member’s submissions and conversation may be reported within the summary so it is important that you own the rights to any material submitted.

Data Protection: So that we can accurately summarise each session an audio-visual recording will be made in accordance with our Media Consent Policy. This recording will not be made available on our web site and will be destroyed within 28 days of the written summary being published. Subject to the appropriate consent being given (see My Account > Communication Preferences to review and change your preferences) names of participants may be included within any written summary.
