It is with much regret that we have to pass on the sad news that Janet Griffin, one of our founder members and a Life Vice-President, died recently.
We received this message from her daughter Alex:
"Janet passed away at the Mountbatten Hospice on 26th July 2024. She had been fighting cancer for 4 years.
Family history has always been one of her main interests and she has served IOWFHS in many ways over the years and I guess she is known by many.
Please can you pass on the information to your members that her funeral was on Tuesday 20th August, 11.15am at the Crematorium, followed by tea and cake at the Waverley caravan park on Old Road, East Cowes. She requested bright clothes rather than black and donations for the hospice rather than flowers."
The Mountbatten Hospice website for any donations is at
https://www.mountbatten.org.uk/donate/donate-to-mountbatten
We shall be preparing an obituary of Janet and outlining her massive contribution to this Society, over almost 40 years, for publication in the next Issue of our Journal.
Our thoughts go to her family in this sad time.
