CAMPEN documents
Due to a house clearance some documents have come into my hands.
They are mainly about Edward Marden CAMPEN and his wife Margaretta Eugenia, nee MARTINDALE.
They include birth and marriage certificates and letters about various engineering positions Edward Campen held.
I will willingly pass them on to anyone who can claim relationship.

LOOKUP SERVICE
(If using this service, please only ask for the services
of one of the LOOKUP volunteers)
Steve Holden has offered his service to look up records in
the IW County Record Office.
Please note that the marriage certificates held at the Record
Office only go up to 1910 so Steve cannot obtain details of
marriages after that date.

LOOKUP Research Service
This is a country wide service undertaken by volunteers to do
some initial research for family historians from local resources.
Mrs Ann Barrett, is a LOOK-UP volunteer for the Isle of Wight.
Ann is unable to go to the Record Office at the moment to do
research but she does have a considerable amount of material at
her own home and can often use these resources to help people. She
can be contacted by email at
Click for email address
The time Ann gives to the research, she gives freely but if
any expenses are involved such as petrol, postage, copying etc. then
obviously these are charged to the enquirer. Sad to say some people have
taken advantage of Ann in the past.
PHILLIPS
Carol Robins from Adelaide, South Australia has acquired a large
folder of material about the PHILLIPS families on the Isle of
Wight which she finds have no connection with her. They date
back to the mid 1600s. She would like to share this information
with others who are tracing this family.

MILFORD/DENT
I have been researching the Milford/Dent line and have been able to
accumulate quite a lot of information on Ella Milford, a.k.a. Helen
Duffy Dent. She was a Scot and if anyone is interested in this
information I would be happy to share it. The
Duffy, Dent, Robertson, Gibb history is quite interesting.

GROVES
By using index cards in the Newport records office relating
to the GROVES family I have recorded all the GROVES
births/baptisms, marriages, deaths/burials and cemetery records.
Since returning to Australia, I have transferred and created a
computer record of all this information and supplemented it with
information from the various census, LDS records and BMD records.
Although I am still in the final throes of editing the computer
file, I am quite happy to share this information with any person
who is interested. Eventually, when I am happy with the
information I plan to send a copy to the Newport records office
along with a copy to the IOW FHS.

Buckinghamshire Research I have fairly easy access
to Bucks resources. The parish records are in my local library
and other archives are nearby in Aylesbury. I am less than an
hour from Kew and would willingly look up something there when I
go if I have fairly clear instructions. Although I must say that
I have had no luck with first world war service records so far
for my grandfathers. I have transcripts of most of the
available parish records for Cilcain, Flintshire (rather a
limited audience for these I should think). Maz Lewis,

Mrs Yvonne Doornekamp,(Mem.1830) has offered to help members
with their Australian research by looking up the following records
in each state in Australia. She says, "Members must know which state they want
the lookup in. I have many other records. I can do further
research if members wish me to but I would need to charge a
research fee for research, initial look-ups are free."

DASHWOOD
I am currently researching my DASHWOOD ancestry and I have
gathered a lot of BMD information on various DASHWOODS living in
the Isle of Wight and Portsmouth. However I would be pleased to
hear from anyone who has any DASHWOOD family history or general
information on any DASHWOOD collected as a result of their own
research into their ancestry. Also I would be pleased to hear
from anyone who has DASHWOOD ancestry. With thanks,

CLARKE/CLARK
I have a very large database of CLARKE/CLARK family records
(thanks to a chap in Croydon who is related and who has done all
the research!) The history comprises of some 500+ pages of CLARKE
data. Including all the census extracts for the Island, all B/D/M
from mid 1500's until around 1920. There are Legal documents,
some Wills, records pertaining to some of our maritime ancestors
- you name it! Clarke families unrelated are also included . I
would like to share this information with anyone else who has an
interest in the CLARKE surname, and would always like to hear
from others with an interest in the name.

MATTHEWS
I am researching the MATTHEWS name on the Isle of Wight and have
PC-held files of all instances of births, baptisms, marriages,
deaths, burials, census returns and Wills recorded at the
Records Office and Myddleton House. The first baptism was
recorded in 1569 and over 1,000 of us have been born on the
island since. I would be very pleased to help anyone, and in
turn they help me piece together all this information into
families and family trees.

"SOLDIERS DIED IN THE GREAT WAR"
This is now available on CD-ROM : I have a copy of it and
it's been extremely useful : I'd be willing to do searches on it
for specific individuals for the price of a 1st class stamp.
Bigger searches (e.g. everybody who died in France!) are not
feasible.
ARMY ROLL of HONOUR - World War II" - I also have this
on CD-ROM, and will search this too on request.

DANIEL/CLARKE/GOODE + Godshill Primary School
My great-parents, Edwin Daniel (1841-1911) and Eliza (née Clarke)
(1844-1912) retired to Whitwell, Isle of Wight, to be near their
eldest son, Edwin, whose wife Laverna (née Goode) was Mistress of
Godshill Primary School (1892-1921). Their children were Ernest
Edwin and Cyril Benford. I have volunteered to transcribe onto CD
the first of three school logbooks spanning this period to be
deposited in the Record Office and at the school.
PS
I now have files (one downloadable in .pdf format) up on my
website. These are a transcription of a document Mrs Jan Williams
lent me from Godshill Primary School. It is a volume of memoirs
compiled by the head teacher in 1987. I hope to add photographs
at a later date. This is the address:
