The images from this autograph album have been supplied to us by Kevin Murphy, to whom we extend many thanks.

The album was bought at a jumble sale in the Shorwell / Brighstone area, and is believed to have belonged to Freda Constance Alberta Terry who was born in 1934.

The album pages are dated from 1926 - 1930, so the entries were probably compiled for one of Freda Terry's aunts, whom we believe to be Dorothy Agnes Terry.

Freda Terry was the niece of Dorothy Agnes Terry - her father was Dorothy's brother Frederick Stephen Terry, so it seems reasonable to assume the book was originally Dorothy's, or one of her other siblings. Dorothy herself made one entry, but there is nothing to say 'this book belongs to ...'

Freda married Charles Oliver Victor Warne in 1968, and died in 1996 aged 62.

Dorothy and her husband James Wales appear to have had no children (or at least none registered in Isle of Wight).

There are a number of well executed cartoons, such as the one illustrated here, by Gerard Patrick Cunningham [GPC] (1906-1987), who was a commercial illustrator in the inter-war period and following the Second World War. The final pages show a "Wall of Friendship" naming many of the contributors to the album, and this is where you will find autobiographical information about them, where we have discovered it.

If anyone can help identify anyone not named, we would be pleased to hear from you. Please contact the Webmaster if you can help.
