This stone was erected by the Ship's company of
His Majestys Ship Leviathan to the memory of
Ivon Monactrine, Midshipman, Peter Stevenson,
Surgeons Mate, Thomas Deadworth, James White,
John Atkinson, John Quince, John Richards, John
Davis, William Snow Smith and Robert Bowen,
Seamen who were unfortunately drowned
near this shore Feb 18th 1804.

Hark to a solemn voice from Ocean waves,
Ye mortals who in forced safety sleep.
They who in ships o'erpafs the stormy waves,
See and declare Gods wonders in the deep.
Warned by our fate learn heavenly things to prize,
For earths vain pleasures like a shadow flee.
Death in an hour unlooked for closed our eyes,
Be watchful then he may next summon three.
