November 2012 : Updates to CDs from Heritage Digital Archives

Heritage Digital Archives (Dave Quigley) has commenced transcribing the 1911 Census returns for the Isle of Wight.

Dave writes :

The sub-districts so far completed are 1 (Cowes, East Cowes & surrounding areas), 3 Ryde (Binstead, Ryde, St Helens etc) and 6 Calbourne (in effect entire West Wight). I still have some checking /proof reading to do on the Ryde one. Until I eventually complete the whole Island I will supply direct for £3.50 post free per sub district or £6.00 for all 3 on a single CD.

Please contact Dave Quigley direct, if you wish to buy any of these - e-mail Heritage Digital Archives

all published with the permission of The Isle of Wight Record Office.

These are searchable Indexes to, and scanned copies of, the Electoral Rolls compiled in these years for all the Parliamentary and Local Registration Districts of the Isle of Wight. As such it represents a simple way of finding your ancestors in these years. Women over 30 were allowed to vote from 1920, and those over 21 from 1928, and therefore their names also appear, together with any adult children also entitled to vote.

The IW Record Office and the IWFHS Resource Centre also have copies of the CDs for reference purposes.

Note the CDR reference number carefully as the CDs are listed chronologically, not by the CDR number.
